North Carolina Golf

Summer golf is starting to bring golfers into North Carolina as courses are in peak condition. Two of the top golf facilities include the Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover and the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club.

The USGA held the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open back to back on consecutive weeks on the No. 2 course at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

This is the first time the USGA has done this type of back to back golf tournaments at the same venue.  This is also the first time the U.S. Women’s Open was held at the Donald Ross designed No. 2.  The Men’s Open had also been held there in both 1999 and 2005.

North Carolina has long been a golf mecca for the east coast region with dozens of quality golf courses.  However, Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Plantation seems to get all the accolades (and deservedly so).  Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club is also a North Carolina favorite but maybe less known than some similar caliber resort courses in the region.  Tobacco Road Golf Club in Sanford is a very popular public course in North Carolina along with Bryan Park Golf Club in Browns Summit.
